BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The administration of Campbell University announced today that head football coach Dale Steele will be released at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Coach Steele and his staff will remain with the program through the team's final game on Nov. 17.  The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Bob Roller, Director of Athletics
"Coach Steele has been a tireless worker building a Campbell football program from scratch.  He performed countless behind-the-scenes duties in addition to leading an NCAA Division I football program, and we are forever grateful for his service and leadership.

"We now find ourselves beginning the search for a new head coach to lead this program, and the search will begin in earnest this week."

Dr. Jerry Wallace, University President
"Campbell University is grateful to Dale Steele for his hard work and leadership with our football program. Coach Steele led the effort to restart Campbell football after an absence of more than 50 years, and we're confident he laid the groundwork for future program success. We wish Coach Steele nothing but the best."

Dale Steele, Head Coach
"We as coaches know that change is inevitable.  Each team every year is a new beginning.  We are measured by results as coaches and this year has been difficult in the growth of our program.  We have had a number of memorable firsts in the program over the first 6 years.  I have had the opportunity to coach a number of outstanding young people who have grown into quality young men.

"I am thankful to Dr. Jerry Wallace and the Trustees for the opportunity to be a part of Campbell University and build Campbell Football.

"I love all our players, coaches and support staff, both past and present, who have given so much of themselves to build this program.

"I wish to thank my wife and family for their love and support as we have built Campbell Football."
